We, the Sudanese immigrants in the state of Tennessee, are aware of the need for cooperation and collective efforts in the changing circumstances brought by resettlement to the United States of America. We understand the culture shock, which one might face in relocating from one country to another, one society to another. We recognize the effect this move may have on one's dignity, one's personality, and on one's overall sense of self. We must work together and unify our purposes to make each individual feel more comfortable, more confident, and more at home. We are determined to combine our efforts and assist one another in this time of acclimation and support one another during these difficult times. The above intentions can only be achieved through mutual support, charity organization, institutional aid, and aid from the state government.
This association aims to alleviate the distress, the poverty, and the suffering which Sudanese community members continue to encounter during this period of refuge. This can be done through efforts of mutual support and self reliance. We want to provide assistance and services to the Sudanese community members within Tennessee, as it has been provided by the constitution.
The Sudanese Community and Women's Services Center is a non-profit, community-based organization created to facilitate the transition of Sudanese immigrants to the United States. As it has been mentioned above, we also aim to aid other refugees of African origin who come to live in the Nashville area.
